Chi-Dynasty
So I’m about to wander out into my second day of Chi-Town.
To catch some of you up, I used to live in Chicago. I went to school here in the early-mid ninties and stuck around for four years afterwards doing theater, helping to found an arts collective/theater company, learning to drive a cab (true).
But in 2000 I left the city in sort of a rush. Our company had just finished a very exciting run of Jessica Goldberg’s Refuge, one I’d been asked to stay months past my original LA moving date to be in. Throughout that summer I’d been sleeping on people’s couches and living out of a small suitcase.
I also didn’t have much money for the upcoming move so there were four boxes of my things that I simply couldn’t ship. So I asked my buddy Mark if he would store those boxes in his garage for a little bit until I could send him some money to ship them.
I hope at this point you know where the story is going. After nearly a decade (and admittedly about 4 trips back for business over the years) I have finally come to get those things, and to visit some of my closest friends here (I’m actually starting the day later than I hoped because of all the visiting last night).
Anyway, I’m going to open the boxes today at around 6pm Chicago time. What should I expect to find in those boxes? Honestly… I don’t remember. But you can bet I’ll be posting pictures.
